Man Utd Manager Ruben Amorim Admits He Can't Escape Poor Performance

Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim feels the stress during their three-one loss at opponents

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim confesses he is unable to conceal from his troubling performance and believes it is normal that club icons are questioning him.

Recently, the club's record goalscorer Wayne Rooney stated on his podcast that "the soul has vanished" from his former team.

Amorim has secured just eighteen wins from his 49 games in charge, including 9 out of thirty-three in the Premier League, where he has yet to record back-to-back consecutive victories.

Although senior club insiders are adamant that the INEOS chief is still supportive Amorim, an inability to defeat newly promoted Sunderland on Saturday will spark fresh speculation about his future heading into another fortnight international break.

"This is expected," commented the Portugal-born coach, when questioned about the former striker's comments. "You cannot escape from the outcomes."

"Additionally you have the history from the previous campaign, [although] last season for me is in the past."

Fan Reaction and Current Circumstances

United's supporters remained behind their manager following the previous campaign's dismal fare, when they ended up fifteenth in the league - their worst performance since the 1973-74 relegation season - and were defeated in the European showpiece, in the hope that this season would be significantly better.

The manager told fans the position would change because he had greater opportunity to work with his team without the midweek commitment of continental football.

However is not been how the initial six games have unfolded as Manchester United have suffered three defeats already and sit 14th in the league.

Manager's Response to Questions

When asked what guarantees he could offer followers that the situation will change, Amorim stated: "This is not the time to speak, it is the time to demonstrate."

"I review the matches in the current campaign and, for me, they are totally varied, but I have little to add at the current time."

  • Man Utd currently hold 14th place in the top flight
  • The manager has secured just 18 of his forty-nine games in charge
  • The former striker recently questioned the club's present situation
  • The upcoming fixture against Sunderland is critical for Amorim's position
